Who shouldn’t drink lime juice?
|While lime juice is a delicious, easy-to-make and widely available drink, it may not be suitable for everyone. According to Dr. Bui Dac Sang at Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, limes enriched with vitamin C have numerous health benefits, including preventing cancer and heart diseases, slowing down aging, and aiding in weight loss by burning fat. Lime juice, peels and seeds are also used in oriental medicine as medications.
Drinking lime juice can bring various health benefits, such as cooling down the body, lowering blood pressure, and aiding digestion. It is also beneficial for those suffering from fever, migraines, coughs, phlegm, chest tightness, bloated stomach, belching and vomiting. Additionally, lime juice can be an effective way to deal with hangovers.
However, individuals with peptic ulcer or diseases related to the kidney, gallbladder or digestive system should limit their intake of lime juice, as it can increase the amount of acid in their stomach. People with belching disorders are also advised not to consume too much of the drink, as it may cause digestive issues. Drinking lime juice on an empty stomach is also not recommended.
To avoid damage to the gastric system and stomach, it is recommended to mix lime juice with warm water and consume it in small sips 30 minutes after meals. Ginger, honey, salt, and milk can also be added to the juice to diversify the flavor and lessen the sour taste. Overall, while lime juice has numerous health benefits, it should be consumed in moderation and with caution.
